PROJECT CONTROLS SPECIALIST - REMOTE (EST)
The Select Group is hiring a Project Controls Specialist to support a Fortune 5 hyperscaler and technology company. This is a long-term, fully remote engagement operating on EST hours.
This role supports a fast-paced, execution-focused team responsible for the pre-construction development of data center utilities, including due diligence, risk management, utilities agreements, contract negotiation, and budget forecasting. The Project Controls Specialist will oversee the commercial and financial aspects of large-scale infrastructure and construction initiatives, partnering closely with project managers to ensure financial accuracy and successful delivery. The consultant is expected to quickly become a trusted member of the NASA (North and South America) Project Controls team, with a strong emphasis on data integrity and reporting accuracy.
Must Have Skills:
- 8 - 12 years of Project Controller experience within the construction industry
- Experience supporting the cost controls of infrastructure, utility, and/or construction projects
- Ideally comes from a large-scale construction GC or utilities company
- Extensive cost controls, budget forecasting, and financial data collection/reporting experience
- Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) - a system that integrates the project, schedule, & cost parameters into one
- Schedule Management experience
- Contract management, negotiation, and administration experience
- Procurement processes, due diligence, contract negotiations, submitting change orders, managing purchase orders, submitting RFI's, etc.
- Strong communication skills, collaborative & proactive mindset
Nice to Have Skills:
- Education: Accounting / Finance background
- Experience supporting Data Center projects or other mission critical projects, such as: Airports, Highways, Hospitals, Etc.
- Familiarity with land acquisition (zoning, permitting), utility management, and contract negotiation
- Familiarity with power purchase agreements (PPAs) or utility interconnection processes
- Utilities and/or Civil Engineering background
- Experience using any of the following tools:
- P6 (primavera)
- Skyvine (for financial & procurement processes)
- Quickbase - for data quality management & PM processes
- Maintain and review accurate financial actuals, proactively identifying and resolving data discrepancies (e.g., duplicate invoices, cost variances) to ensure data integrity.
- Lead and support weekly actuals reviews; proactively seek clarification to maintain alignment across teams.
- Analyze actuals to identify trends, share variance insights, and document recurring data issues to improve team efficiency.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and forecasts aligned with infrastructure and land acquisition milestones.
- Track and report project performance using EVM and other metrics to ensure adherence to budgets and timelines.
- Coordinate with real estate, utility, engineering, vendors, and contractors to align on scope, timelines, and delivery.
- Monitor infrastructure progress, utility negotiations, risks, and change control activities.
- Manage project finances, including cost tracking, invoicing, cash flow, forecasting, and audit support.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contract terms, and company/project-specific procedures.
- Oversee document management, resource planning, and project reviews through contract closeout.
- Skyvine – Financial and procurement workflows (funding requests, approvals, purchase orders, change orders).
- Quickbase – Data quality management and project management workflows.
- Accord – Contract management, document updates, and change order submissions.
Candidates must be able to work directly with TSG's client on a W2 basis after the C2C contract phase has ended without visa sponsorship or visa transfer.
