Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) – Advisor Digital Platform (Asset Management)

  • Contract Duration: 6 months to start, with a strong likelihood of extension up to 2 years

  • Work Model: Hybrid

  • 3-4 days on-site

  • Location: Toronto, ON

    Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong technical and business acumen to support a large-scale, multi-year advisor digital platform build within Global Asset Management.

This role sits at the intersection of business, technology, compliance, and delivery. You will work on a net-new, secure advisor portal, taking complex regulatory, operational, and product requirements and translating them into clear, technically actionable solutions that development teams can execute against.

This is not a maintenance or backend processing role. The successful candidate must have experience delivering enterprise-grade, advisor-facing platforms from the ground up in highly regulated financial environments.

    Program Context

    • Global Asset Management currently operates a public-facing website for advisors and investors.

    • There is no secure advisor portal today.

    • This initiative is building a secure advisor portal from scratch, including:

    • Advisor authentication (SSO, MFA)

    • Advisor and client onboarding

    • Digital smart forms and e-signatures

    • Client account opening

    • KYC / AML workflows

    • API-enabled integrations across platforms

  • The program is already in the build phase and supported by three Agile Scrum teams.

  • This is a multi-year strategic initiative with long-term funding and executive visibility.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Act as a Senior BSA supporting complex, cross-functional delivery across business and technology teams.

    • Own end-to-end requirements discovery, analysis, and decomposition for advisor-facing digital capabilities.

    • Translate business, compliance, and regulatory needs into:

    • Functional and non-functional requirements

    • User stories with clear acceptance criteria

    • Process flows, data mappings, and integration requirements

  • Partner with Product Owners to shape backlog priorities while ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Work closely with engineering teams to clarify APIs, data contracts, authentication flows (SSO/MFA), and system integrations.

  • Support the delivery of client onboarding and account opening workflows, ensuring alignment with:

  • KYC / AML requirements

  • Digital e-signature standards

  • Regulatory and audit expectations

  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams to ensure solutions meet regulatory obligations without overengineering.

  • Support global asset management product and reporting needs, including CDR-related considerations.

  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, retrospectives).

  • Provide ongoing analysis support during build, testing, and release phases.

    Required Experience & Skills

    • Senior-level Business Systems Analyst experience in large financial institutions.

    • Strong asset management, investment management/ capital markets knowledge (mutual funds, ETFs, CRDs).

    • Hands-on experience with advisor/investment portals and advisor-facing platforms. Exposure to global asset management products and operating models.

    • Proven experience with client onboarding flows for advisors and account openings in regulated environments.

    • Deep understanding of:

    • KYC "Know Your Client" / AML regulations

    • Digital identity and e-signatures

    • Compliance-driven workflows

  • Strong technical acumen, explaining technical requirements to technology stakeholders, including:

  • API-based integrations

  • Authentication and authorization concepts (SSO, MFA)

  • Data flows and system dependencies

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex requirements into clear, build-ready artifacts.

  • Strong Agile/Scrum experience, working directly with multiple development teams.

  • Consultative/business analyst mindset able to translate business needs into technical requirements and guide stakeholders (business, compliance, product, engineering).
