Lab Tester (network)-Ashburn, VA
The Select Group is seeking an associate level Lab Tester for our telecommunication client. Lab Tester Skills:

  • Strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Experience with Linux environments, including comfort with command-line operations for log retrieval and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Red Hat OpenStack/OpenShift (preferred).
  • Strong "tester’s mindset" with exceptional troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking for complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated passion for technology (personal tech projects, continuous learning, or hands-on IT hobbies).
Preferred Certifications:
  • CCNA
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Linux+
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • SD-WAN and enterprise backup experience (NetBackup, Commvault, etc.).
  • NetApp experience.
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA for test case management and defect tracking.
Daily Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive lab testing on customer premise equipment (CPE), including routers, extenders, and set-top boxes.
  • Conduct rigorous testing for software upgrades and downgrades devices to ensure stable deployments.
  • Review technical requirements for clarity and completeness, and create detailed test cases aligned with specifications.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies in JIRA.
  • Replicate and troubleshoot remote management issues reported from production environments to assist with root cause analysis.
  • Analyze device logs to uncover issues, troubleshoot problems, and provide actionable insights to the development team.
  • Collaborate with development and production support teams to explain issues, assist with troubleshooting, and support software deployments.
