GCP Data Engineer

• Contract length: 6 months (possible extension)
• Location: 100% Remote in Canada (EST preferred)

Project Overview
Our telecom client in Canada is migrating business-critical reporting workflows into GCP as part of its digital transformation. This role supports the transition by helping build GCP-native pipelines, validate migrated data, and support a clean handover to internal teams.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering with hands-on exposure to GCP.
• Familiarity with BigQuery, Dataflow, and data orchestration tools (Airflow, Composer).
• Basic experience reading or converting SAS code is a strong asset.
• Proficient in SQL and Python for data processing and validation.
• Proficiency with data visualization tools (Looker and/or Tableau)
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in distributed teams.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative within a fast-paced project.

Nice to Have:

• Migration experience (to GCP)
• Preferably with SAS or DOMO

Key Responsibilities

• Support the documentation and reverse engineering of legacy SAS and Domo workflows.
• Assist in the development of data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, and Composer (or equivalent).
• Collaborate on the migration of historical SQL Server data into GCP.
• Participate in parallel testing with SAS and Domo processes to ensure data accuracy.
• Work closely with senior engineers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver tested outcomes.
• Contribute to the final documentation and knowledge transfer for ongoing team ownership.
