Senior GCP Data Engineer Overview
As part of our clients ongoing modernization efforts, SAS-based reporting processes are being decommissioned and migrated into GCP. This role focuses on delivering scalable data pipelines, conducting historical data migrations, and ensuring accuracy through parallel testing — all with minimal oversight and high accountability.

Senior GCP Data Engineer Key Responsibilities
• Lead the re-architecture and migration of SAS-based data workflows into GCP.
• Design and implement data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer (or equivalent orchestration tools).
• Collaborate with business users and analysts to document and translate existing SAS workflows into modern equivalents.
• Oversee historical data migrations (3 years) from on-prem SQL Server into GCP.
• Conduct validation testing by running GCP processes in parallel with legacy SAS systems.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on handover, documentation, and production-readiness.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to intermediate engineers on the project team.

Senior GCP Data Engineer Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of data engineering experience, with 4+ years hands-on in GCP.
• Strong knowledge of BigQuery, Dataflow, and orchestration tools like Composer, Airflow, or similar.
• Experience reverse-engineering and converting SAS code to modern data pipelines.
• Strong SQL, Python, and ETL optimization skills.
• Previous experience with data migration projects, especially involving legacy systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of end-to-end deliverables.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, outcome-driven environments.
