Security Research Engineer

Job Duration: 12+
Location: Onsite in either RTP or Fulton, MD. Required to be onsite Tuesday through Thursday.

Must Have Skills:

• Government policy and technical expertise in the following areas: 1 year (minimum) of Common Criteria.
• Ability in IT Networking and Security.
• Ability to architect and document Cisco product solutions and translate into certification requirements.
• Apply security engineering knowledge and expertise to solving problems within certification projects.
• Working knowledge of networking technologies including network security/IDS/IPS, network access, routing, switching, datacenter/cloud computing, cryptography/encryption.

Day to Day:

• collaborating with external third-party labs, globally located engineers and program managers, BU DE community inclusive of Dev test/QA test teams for pre-certification and certification initiatives across the Cisco portfolio.
• Surgically assess feasibility of certification assurance/completion.
• Work within a collaborative team environment for entire lifecycle of certification process – technical documentation writing/development, network analysis; business analysis/feasibility studies.
• Taking over cisco product and running tests on it to make sure it meets the requirements that common criteria profile requires it to meet
• Hands on devices, loads IOS on it, connect LAN internetwork, TCP IP up and running.
• Configure product to allow certain things. Testing
• Looking at product, responsible to bringing product online, configuring it, running tests, work with BU to see if any issues are found. Once all is good, schedule test w external labs.
