Position Title: Investment Owner
Company: Top utility company in SoCal
Remote/Onsite: Mostly remote (onsite 1 day/wk)
Work Location: Downtown LA
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in project/portfolio management, asset management, AND/OR risk management
- Background in Oil and Gas with strong knowledge pertaining to Natural Gas Infrastructure (distribution and transmission pipelines, storage facilities, compressor stations, and associated equipment)
- Understanding of risk management methodologies, predictive analytics, and failure analysis techniques
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- Experience in cost-benefit analysis, budget management, and portfolio investment analysis
Soft Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Independent and proactive
- Experience with Copperleaf
Additional Details:
This key role is responsible for overseeing natural gas infrastructure assets, bridging the gap between safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. The Investment Owner will work cross-functionally to collect, analyze, and interpret critical asset data to drive data-driven decisions for portfolio management and investment prioritization.
Day to day responsibilities:
- Evaluate and assess the risk profile of natural gas assets, including pipelines, storage facilities, compressor stations, and other related infrastructure.
- Lead efforts in data collection and analysis, ensuring accurate and actionable insights on asset condition, performance, and lifecycle risk.
- Analyze financial data related to the natural gas asset portfolio, including maintenance costs, replacement costs, and overall capital expenditure trends.
- Provide financial insights to help guide decision-making on asset maintenance, replacement, or upgrades based on risk and cost analysis.
- Partner with various teams across the organization, such as operations, engineering, safety, compliance, and finance, to ensure that asset management decisions are informed by both operational data and financial imperatives.
- Facilitate communication between departments to align on asset performance and investment priorities.
- Help prioritize asset investments based on risk factors (e.g., likelihood of failure, safety impact), financial considerations, and regulatory/compliance requirements.
- Use data and predictive analytics to forecast future investment needs and risks associated with the portfolio.
- Ensure all investment decisions are made with safety and regulatory compliance as top priorities.
- Generate clear, concise reports and dashboards that communicate the status, risk, and financial health of the asset portfolio to stakeholders.
