Job Details

Position Title: Packaging Engineer

Start Date: ASAP

Job Duration: 6 months (with potential extension)

Remote Info: Onsite at Santa Clara HQ, 5 days/week

 

Project Details:

The packaging engineer will help with managing the product packaging through the NPI lifecycle. They will work with strategic partners, support manufacturing and manufacturing quality, as well as sustainability. 60% of their time will be spent on NPI, working with strategic partners. 40% of their time will be in sustaining, driving timelines and defining the scope and schedule.

 

They will work with key strategic partners to develop and validate from concept to release. There will be various components supporting manufacturing, quality, as well as sustaining programs to help with scalability efforts.

The right candidate will have the ability to manage end-to-end packaging engineering programs, exhibiting lean engineering qualities in process development and ongoing quality control.

 

Must Have Skills:

  1. 3+ years of experience in packaging engineering
  2. Experience with the package design, development, manufacturing, and change management processes.
  3. 3+ years experience with CAD, ArtiosCAD, or 3D CAD
  4. Defining design parameters and concepts
  5. Will not have to do extensive CAD work but will need an understanding of CAD to help interpret and design
  6. Experience pertaining to protective packaging – either for sensitive products or fragility sensitive products
  7. Project management experience
  8. specifically defining scope and scheduling, driving timelines
  9. Experience using a PLM software (agile is a plus, but open to any)
  10. Understanding of environmental compliance
  11. Experience working with cross functional teams such as mechanical, logistics, and hardware teams, as well as, with external contract manufacturers and direct fulfillment
  12. Nice to Have Skills: Experience Developing or improving product package process documents to improve the ability of contract manufacturers to package product correctly and reduce product damage while reducing process cost

 

Education/Certification Requirements: B.S. in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant field

 

Additional Details:

  • Day to day responsibilities: 60% NPI-working with strategic partners to design, develop and validate products.
  • 40% Sustaining-projects will be assigned based off of background. They will be responsible for driving timelines, defining the scope and schedule.
  • Working with cross functional teams such as mechanical, logistics, and hardware teams, as well as, with external contract manufacturers and direct fulfillment.
