Distribution Engineer

The Select Group is seeking a Distribution Engineer for our top Utility client in Houston, TX. This role is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

Distribution Engineer Requirements:

• Senior Engineer:
  • PE License in the State of Texas required
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering
  • Distribution Utility Experience (12kv, 30kv, power flow studies, load flow analysis on distribution lines, etc.)
  • 5+ years of electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design (i.e. distribution modeling experience)
  • Microgrid experience PLUS
  • Distributed Generation (DG) PLUS – experience in DER interconnections
• Engineer:
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering

Distribution Engineer Responsibilities:

• Uses electrical models (CYMDIST) to analyze circuit loading, identify operating issues and make reliability and operational recommendations for the distribution system
• Gathers information and compiles data from multiple sources (SAP, GIS, Key Accounts, Service Centers) to construct electrical models
• Prepares final development plan documents and associated reports (construction list, etc.) for company intranet site (DDPviewer)
• Performs studies to analyze and respond to DER interconnection requests and special studies, etc.
• Provides expertise to improve and enhance distribution planning techniques and standards
• Perform field checks to verify existing system configuration
