DATA SCIENTIST
Data Scientist Level 3 or Data Scientist Level 4
Clearance Required: TS/SCI clearance with ability to pass a polygraph
Work Location: Near Annapolis Junction, MD; onsite
Telework Availability: Some remote work
What you will do (day in the life):
As a Data Scientist Senior Technical Specialist, some of your duties will include:
- Involvement in the analyses of unstructured and semi-structured data, including latent semantic indexing (LSI), entity identification and tagging, complex event processing (CEP), natural language processing (NLP), and the application of analysis algorithms on distributed, clustered, and cloud-based high-performance infrastructures.
- Exercises creativity in applying non-traditional approaches to large-scale analysis of unstructured data in support of high-value use cases visualized through multi-dimensional interfaces.
- Analyze and investigate data sets and summarize their main characteristics, often employing data visualization methods. Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)
- Handle processing and index requests against high-volume collections of data and high-velocity data streams.
- Research and test novel machine learning approaches for analyzing large-scale distributed computing applications.
- Suggest innovative and creative concepts and ideas that would improve the overall platform
- Strong understanding of the most recent trends around telecom industry and technology adoption
- Strong technical and computational skills – engineering, physics, mathematics, coupled with the ability to code design, develop, and deploy sophisticated applications and prototypes using advanced unstructured and semi-structured data analysis techniques and utilizing high-performance computing environments.
- Utilize advance tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict, and make discoveries in complex data and deliver recommendations for business and analytic decisions.
Required Experience/Education:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to pass a polygraph
- Full time work in a SCIF is required, but hours are flexible.
- Degree in computer science, software engineering, or field applicable to the position required.
- Bachelor’s and 6+ years of relevant experience required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience with data transport and transformation APIs and technologies such as JSON, XML, XSLT, JDBC, and REST.
- Experience with Cloud-based data analysis tools including Hadoop and Mahout, Acumulo, Hive, Impala, Pig, and similar.
- Experience with visual analytic tools like Microsoft Pivot, Palantir, or Visual Analytics.
- Experience with open-source textual processing such as Lucene, Sphinx, Nutch or Solr.
- Experience with entity extraction and conceptual search technologies such as LSI, LDA, etc.
- Experience with machine learning, algorithm analysis, and data clustering
- Experience with Python scripting, Pandas, Excel
- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks
- Data Analysis, Engineering and Enrichment
- Strong testing and verification skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high visibility environment
Preferred/Desired Experience:
- Security+ or other IAT II/III level certification that is currently active
- ArcGIS automation and modeling
- Experience with SAFEHOUSE web GIS platform
DATA INTEGRATOR
Data Integrator Level 3 or Data Integrator Level 4 or Data Integrator Level 5
Clearance Required: TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph
Work Location: Northern Virginia; Maryland; Washington DC

The Software Developer/Data Integrator will:
- Work with a team of developers on data integration requirements.
- Write and maintain code using an Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) platform to transform data to suitable formats as defined by IC ITE initiatives.
- Interface with external teams and systems to collect data via myriad protocols including HTML and SFTP
- Add features to ETL platform to shorten timelines for future data integration efforts.
- Develop and maintain code and integrate software into a fully functional software system.
- Work with external teams to validate data ingest.
- Provide and maintain documentation of system architecture, development, and enhancements.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor’s and 8 or more years’ experience or a Master’s degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Required Experience & Abilities:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
- Linux/Unix experience
- Object Oriented programming language experience
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in the face of ambiguity
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn new skills
Desired Experience:
- Expertise in data ingestion, data transformation (ETL), and data modeling.
- Experience with Ruby, Java, or Python
- One year working with Restful web services
- Experience with code development, deployment, versioning
- Working in cloud architecture with AWS EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, Elastic Search
- Experience with XML data formats including processing and translation with XSLT and XPath
